Welcome to Wheat Ridge Avalanche Competitive Soccer! Avalanche competitive soccer teams play in various divisions of the Advanced League within the Colorado Soccer Association. Our club strives to provide coaching and player development committed to the values and attributes which transcend the world's beautiful game.
11U - 15U Boys and Girls
Selection to a team in these age groups require a full year commitment as these teams typically train 8 to 9 months out of the year. Players are registered with the club from August 1st to July 31st following tryouts. During their year-long season they will play 16-20 games that are split between Fall (August - November) and Spring (March – May.) During these times, teams train 2-3 days a week in addition to playing weekend games. Avalanche teams typically play in at least one tournament during each season. All of our teams receive supplemental player development sessions from our Club Coach from the U.K. In the "off-season," players participate in other team activities such as indoor soccer, futsal, additional tournaments, and club camps/clinics
17U - 19U Boys and Girls
Players in this age group are selected by the same process as the younger age group but in the Colorado State Association they will only play one season which generally consist of at least 8 games. Age groups may be combined if there are a limited number of available players. Boys teams will play during the CSA Spring (March - May) season and Girls teams during the CSA Fall (August - November) season. These teams also receive supplemental player development sessions from our Club Coach from the U.K.
Player placement is based on age, ability, and individual strengths. We generally offer a couple of different levels of teams within an age group. For example, depending on the number of available players each age group may have two teams for either gender. One team is often placed within a higher state division than the other. There is always the possibility of player movement between the two teams. Movement is dependent on several factors such as development of the player, mutual needs of each team, the minimum number of players required, etc. The coaches of the teams involved and the Director of Coaching will work together to make team placement decisions.
